Hockwold Hall | Norfolk Wedding Photography | Charlie & Nicholas

Every photographer has a ‘bucket list’ of venues that they can’t wait to shoot a wedding at. Hockwold Hall was high on mine!

Another superb Norfolk wedding venue ticked off the wish list in 2019! I have photographed at Hockwold Hall before for a charity dinner dance, but this was my first wedding there. Since then, I had been keen to shoot a wedding at this exclusive venue.

Needless to say, I was very excited when I met with Charlie and Nico and they revealed the venue for their special day.

The boys had a really clear plan for the day. It was to be their day, their way and that was fine by me!

Hockwold is situated not far from Brandon, close to the Norfolk Suffolk Border. It is a privately owned imposing period property with established formal gardens and views across the countryside. 

They were blessed with a beautiful sunny day. Therefore, they could make full use of the fabulous gardens by having an outdoor ceremony with the beautiful pagoda as the focal point.

The reception was in Hockwold’s fabulous permanent marquee dressed very simply in white with colourful hanging lanterns.

It was the very quintessential English country house wedding with a twist.

Nicolas is from Switzerland and many of the guests had travelled to be there for the wedding. This meant two sets of speeches, one in English then in Swiss – German.

Toastmaster Nigel ensured proceedings ran like clockwork and gave a hand with organising the larger groups for the photos. Not to mention the all important throwing of the bouquet, which Nicolas was determined to do.

Hockwold Hall exceeded my expectations and was an all round fabulous venue! The canapés were to die for! Whilst we’re on that subject, the amazing cake was by Sassa’s Bespoke Cakes. I can only imagine how delicious it was!

It’s all in the detail

All in all a really wonderful wedding, which was an honour to be part of and capture. The joining of two people in love, determined to have the day they had dreamed of and both deserved. Surrounded with the people who they loved.
