The Oaklands Hotel | Norfolk Wedding Photography | Kelly & Spencer

It’s been a while since my last blog, purely because things have gone a bit crazy since the lifting of restrictions. So I feel I am little bit behind with blogging! Casting my mind back to the beginning of June, when we did actually have a Summer. Let’s face it, August has been pretty rubbish as far as the weather goes!

Kelly & Spencer said I do on a surprisingly hot day, despite the total opposite which was actually forecast. As a wedding photographer, I have actually stopped looking at the weather forecast, because it never actually seems to do what it says. I think it’s safe to say that you can see from the photos that it was nice and sunny. Definitely no editing needed, not that I am a photographer who heavily edits anyway. Thats where the term documentary comes from, as my style is very much natural light showing it exactly as it happens.

Their wedding took place all under one roof at The Oaklands Hotel in Norwich. The ladies in one room in one block and the lads in another room in another block. After all, they didn’t want to meet prior to the wedding. To an outsider, I probably looked like something out of a comedy sketch as I was darting backwards and forwards between the two rooms and obviously couldn’t say what was going on in each of the rooms! What happens in the room, stays in the room if you get my meaning!

BRIDE SQUAD

Champagne on ice sets the scene in the ladies room. Fizz, curling tongs, hairspray and some wicked tunes! That pretty much sums it up! All the ladies did each others hair and with make-up and treatments from By Lauren MUA and The Little Beauty Spot.

LOOKING SHARP

Meanwhile over in the lads camp, Spencer was having his hair cut by Mega Tan & Beauty Norwich. It’s not very often as a wedding photographer, that you get to see the groom having his hair done.

There were some pumping tunes going on in the lads camp too, but all super chilled whilst having a few laughs together.

Before I left the lads, I gave strict instructions not to look out of the window, as I wanted to make use of the balcony. Luckily Stuart Kenrick – Norfolk Celebrant arrived to keep the lads in check whilst I darted back to the ladies. Sometimes, it seems as though there is absolutely loads of time in the morning for getting ready and then before you know it, time has gone! Luckily on this occasion, the whole day was at the one venue.

EXCHANGING OF THE RINGS

The wedding ceremony was performed by Stuart Kenrick who is a genuine all round nice guy and I actually have to thank him for recommending me to Kelly & Spencer in the first place!

DOWN BY THE RIVER

Kelly had two wedding dresses, one for the ceremony and another for the reception. If you can’t have two dresses on your wedding day, then when can you? Considering the hot weather, I think she was probably glad to have another dress too! After the ceremony, I whisked them off for some couples shots along the river. As they were still governed by COVID restrictions, the day was cut shorter than usual, but these guys definitely made up for it.
