Ivy House Hotel | Suffolk Wedding Photography | Rebecca & Matt

Rebecca and Matt contacted me a few weeks before their wedding in February. Their wedding was luckily the day before Storm Ciara hit. The calm before the storm!

I remember the day well. Now I never said anything at the time, but half way through the day I felt really unwell, which did actually result in me being sick…luckily confined to the toilets while the wedding couple and guests were having their wedding breakfast. So thankfully I wasn’t needed at this time! Being the seasoned pro that I am, I managed to put on a smile and return to the wedding to cover the speeches and the rest of the day, unbeknown to anyone. After all, the show must go on! It was certainly a first for me as weddings go! To this day, no one knows! So Rebecca and Matt as you’re reading this, my secret is out!

The show must go on!

Anyway, back to the fabulous wedding! I arrived at Ivy House Hotel in Lowestoft ready to capture the finishing touches of the bride and her bridal party getting ready while celebrating the start of the day with some bubbly.

I had never been to Ivy House before. It is a lovely setting for a wedding with 21 acres of private grounds including the summer house on the edge of the pond. The wedding was held in The Rose Suite. I loved that the happy couple celebrated “getting hitched” by dancing down the aisle.

Canopes and champagne followed! The day was cold with beautiful winter sunshine. The perfect backdrop to whisk the bride, groom and guests outside to make the most of this waterside venue.

We then drove a few miles to The Waveney Inn near Beccles for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment. It is a lovely secluded riverside location at The Waveney River Centre, hidden away in the depths of Suffolk. It was a place that Rebecca and Matt had visited and enjoyed spending time at, as they are not local to Norfolk & Suffolk.

The speeches saw some emotional words and tear jerking moments read on behalf of family members who couldn’t make it.

Rebecca & Matt have been together for a number of years and have a lovely family together. It was now their turn to tie the knot and enjoy a new chapter in their lives. May it long continue!
